“Master, master Klaas told us about the Dutch megalithic monuments
and stone-age finds.
He
said, that there was a lot of turbulence and discussion about the
finds of an amateur-archeologist “Tjerk Vermaning”. He found
stone tools, that seem to direct to humans living in the the province
of Drenthe 15- to 20.000 years ago.
University-professors
stated that he had forged the finds and produced them at home.”
Master:
“There is a third explanation.”
Student:
“Please, tell me master.”
Master:
“In the Netherlands people lived on sites close to the sea. They
constructed artificial mounds of clay and dirt to survive floodings.
Over the centuries these “terpen” grew higher and higher. When
the Dutch population grew, they were forced to use unfertile grounds
to grow food.
The
Frisians lived on fertile ground and their mounts, contained the best
fertilizer. So the Frisians started selling the stuff, without
realizing the earth contained historical artifacts, pottery and even
coins. The Frisians sold their precious soil Drenthe, which had a
poor, sandy soil and where later Vermaning was digging. After they
had destroyed almost all the artificial mounts, the Frisians started
selling their clay, the soil of their lands. Special mud-ships were
build to export it as far as Holland.”
Student:
“I understand, Master. The disputed stone-age finds, could
originally stem from somewhere else. They were not found in situ.”
