THE DARK AGES
In the year 410 the Roman Empire, already a illusion, collapsed and the Imperial city of Rome fell and was sacked by the Visigoths.
But the Roman Empire survived and flourished in the East. Byzantine emperors ruled over Turkey, Syria and the Levant, including the Holy Land. After the Crusades, the pressure from Islamic nomad tribes grew and Constantinople fell in 1453. It made an end to over 1000 years of Christian rule.
In the West mass-migration swept away old alliances and new ones were formed, visible until today.
