THE
FESTIVAL
4
of the 7 members of the 1st Circle were present in “the
Shop”. So were Jurgen and Christian, Technicians of the 2nd
Circle, who were responsible for the hardware and the communication
between the participants in this meeting and the three who were
absent: Amanda, Amber and Ylona.
The
Master was present too, though he just seemed to read and take notes.
The 3 other visitors, all three male, were staring like in a trance
at a big tv-screen. It showed the “the Sjanghai Grand Prix”, 20
racingcars circling around. A popular “sport”, mainly because one
of the participants is Dutch. Max Verstappen is his name and only 20
years old. He is hot in advertising, selling food, toys and
energydrinks. Young kids dream of being him and are drawn into a
techno-nightmare. Maybe cleaning windshields and changing tyres. The
drivers are carefully selected and trained, long before they even
touched a Formula 1-car. They represent a global billion-dollar
industry and perform in races world-wide.
These
races are careflly planned to draw the most media-attention and
public. This meant that cars, drivers, sparetyres, technology,
technicians and a crew. Are flown from Australia to Bahrein and
Sjanghai. It costs an awful lot of money and results in an enormous
Carbon-footprint.
“We
have to draw a conclusion and choose the kind of action we will
undertake”, said Yvanka, while searching in her bag for a lighter.
Ryanna nodded. “I agree, but we have to choose the right moment. We
have to keep the momentum going. Anyone coffee?”
“I
think, that we should choose one of the major City-festivals this
year.”, said Jeannet, “Sail or “de Visserijdagen” (a 3
day-festival, connected to the sea and commercial fishing, held in
August of each year).
Laura
laughed. “Let's choose for the “Visserijdagen”, it gives me a
chance to meet my father.”
