THE MONKEY-PATH
the
truth and nothing but the truth
A
Sphinx is a pre-flood creature, that lived in the dessert. It was
reknown to ask the answer for a riddle from travellers, that passed
his domain. It was a matter of life or death. When the answer was
wrong or insufficient, the Sphinx would kill his victim. Over time,
the area was littered with skeletons and bones. The Sphinx did not
mind, nor did the travellers, so it seems.
When
Napoleon invaded Egypt, he brought with him a number of scientists,
technicians and archeologists.
One
of them discovered the Sphinx. At least part of it. The only part of
the structure visible, was its head. The rest was covered with sand.
The
local Arabs thought, that the head was just a head, but the Frenchman
knew, that their was more to it. Excavations started and slowly the
monument became visible. The human head belonged to an enormous body
of a lion.
It
is not unusual for Egyptians to depict a human with an animal head.
These were images of the Gods, like Horus and Anubis.
With
the whole Sphinx uncovered, the site became also accessible for
archeological research. One of the most important results is still
debated, ignored or marginalised.Geologists concluded, that the
weathering of the monument was the result of water (rainfall) and not
the dessert-winds.
The
Sphinx, and probably the Gizeh-pyramids, was cut out of stone around
14.000 b.c. In that period Egypt had the necessary rainfall and the
Nile reached the Atlantic Ocean.
