A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is larger than the Sun, blocking all direct sunlight, turning day into darkness. Totality occurs in a narrow path across the surface of the Earth, while a partial solar eclipse will be visible over a region thousands of kilometres wide.

Since 1983, the Ajanta Caves have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The caves are located in the Indian state of Maharashtra, near Jalgaon, just outside the village of Ajinṭhā(20°31′56″N 75°44′44″E / 20.53222°N 75.74556°E). Caves are only about 59 kilometers from Jalgaon Railway station (on Delhi - Mumbai, Rail line of the Central railways, India); and 104 kilometers from Aurangabad (from Ellora Caves 100 Kilometers).
Located near Aurangabad in Maharashtra, the 29 caves at Ajanta are situated in a horseshoe-shaped ravine. The cave walls are covered with painted narratives of the Jataka tales. The 34 caves at Ellora are excavated out of the vertical face of the Charanandri hills.

Many Sanskrit epics, which were written in India more than two millennia ago, contain references to mythical flying machines called vimanas. Pointing to similarities between descriptions of vimanas and reports by people who claim to have seen UFOs, ancient alien theorists have suggested that astronauts from other planets visited India during ancient times.

In the Vedic literature of India, there are many descriptions of flying machines that are generally called vimanas. These fall into two cate- gories: (l) manmade craft that resemble airplanes and fly with the aid of birdlike wings, and (2) unstreamlined structures that fly in a mysterious manner and are generally not made by human beings. The machines in category (l) are described mainly in medieval, secular Sanskrit works dealing with architecture, automata, military siege engines, and other mechanical contrivances. Those in category (2) are described in ancient works such as the Rg Veda, the Maha-bha-rata, the Rama-yana, and the Pura-nas, and they have many features reminis- cent of UFOs.

Jezus werd in de Jordaan gedoopt. Op dat moment verscheen hem de Heilige Geest en begonnen de drie jaren van zijn regentschap op aarde, totdat de Kruisdood op Golgotha hier een einde aan maakte.
De doop werd verricht door Johannes, een zwervende preker en een zonderling, die in de woestijn leefde. Hij waarschuwde voor de ondergang van de Joden, omdat ze zich van de oude wetten, rituelen en gebruiken hadden afgewend. De toorn van God zou losbarsten. Deze voorspelling kwam uit toen zo'n 40 jaar later Jeruzalem door de Romeinen werd ingenomen, geplunderd en de Tempel, het belangrijkste Joodse heiligdom, in brand werd gestoken.
Johannes, bijgenaamd de Doper, maakte zich, net als Jezus niet geliefd bij de autoriteiten. De Romeinse regent Herodes Antipas nam hem gevangen en Johannes werd daarna in de kerkers van Herodes' paleis opgesloten. Het was niet de bedoeling, dat hij daar voorlopig uit zou komen.
Tijdens een banket met vrienden beloofde Herodes aan Salome, zijn dochter, haar elke wens te vervullen. Opgestookt door haar jaloerse moeder vroeg Salome om het hoofd van Johannes de Doper. Hetgeen geschiedde.
Maar wat gebeurde er met Salome?
Niet lang daarna leed Jeruzalem onder een zeer koude winter. Begeleid door bedienden en soldaten reisde Salome terug naar huis. Ze moest hiervoor de Jordaan oversteken. De geschiedenis vermeldt niet of het nu volgende drama zich op de plek afspeelde waar Johannes Jezus had gedoopt. In ieder geval, tijdens het oversteken van de Jordaan viel Salome in de rivier. Haar zware kleding trok haar naar beneden. Maar voordat zij in de diepte verdween, bevroor het water zo snel, dat de drenkeling werd onthoofd.

Ubar wordt voor het eerst genoemd in oude geschriften bij zijn Arabische naam "Iram", en was volgens veel volksverhalen het handelscentrum van de Rub al Khali woestijn. De stad zou ergens van 3000 voor Christus tot de eerste eeuw na Christus hebben bestaan in het zuidelijke gedeelte van het Arabisch Schiereiland. Volgens legendes zou de stad erg rijk zijn geworden door de handel met de kustgebieden en de dichtbevolkte gebieden in het Midden-Oosten en Europa. De Koran noemt de stad als een stad bewoond door een stam van A'ad.
De stad is op een onbepaald punt in de geschiedenis verloren geraakt, maar hoe is niet duidelijk. Volgens folklore zou koning Shaddad een waarschuwing van de profeet Hud hebben genegeerd, waana God de stad liet wegzinken in het zand. Ubar werd bekend in de Westerse wereld door de vertalingen van Duizend-en-één-nacht.

Er wordt soms getwijfeld of de stad echt bestaan heeft. T. E. Lawrence noemde de stad daarom ook wel “het Atlantis van het zand”.
Archeologische vondsten uit Iram tonen veelvuldige inscripties aan de godin Allāt gericht die de bescherming van de stam van ‘ād inroepen.[1]

Recente ontdekkingen hebben het geloof in het bestaan van Ubar weer aangewakkerd.
Begin jaren 80 van de 20e eeuw gebruikte een groep onderzoekers de op afstand bestuurbare satellietlenzen van NASA, Ground Penetrating Radar, data van het Landsatprogramma en foto’s van de Spaceshuttle Challenger in een poging de stad terug te vinden. Hiermee werden oude karavaanroutes onderzocht op plaatsen waar meerdere routes elkaar kruisten.
Een gebied dat vaak wordt aangewezen als mogelijke locatie voor Ubar bevindt zich in de Dhofarprovincie van Oman. Een team van onderzoekers, waaronder de avonturier Ranulph Fiennes, archeoloog Juris Zarins, filmmaker Nicholas Clapp en advocaat George Hedges, bracht meerdere bezoekjes aan dit gebied. Ze stopten uiteindelijk bij een waterput genaamd Ash Shisar.[2] Vlakbij deze oase lagen ruïnes die voorheen werden geïdentificeerd als restanten van een 16e eeuws Shis’r fort. Opgravingen onthulden restanten van een nog oudere nederzetting en voorwerpen die daar werden verhandeld. Dit oudere fort bleek te zijn gebouwd op een grote kalkstenen grot die als waterbron kon hebben gediend voor het fort. Als dat zo was, dan zou dit een belangrijke oase zijn geweest op veel handelsroutes. Het fort is vermoedelijk vernietigd toen de grot instortte doordat men er teveel water uithaalde, ergens tussen 300 en 500 na Christus.
