LALIBELA (ETHIOPIA)
Lalibela was the refuge for one of Christianity’s most interesting heresies, known as Monophysitism. This belief states that Christ was both divine and human before his incarnation but that his divine nature left his body and only reentered it after the Resurrection. First professed at the 2nd Council of Ephesus in 449 AD and soon thereafter condemned as heresy at the Council of Chalcedon in 451, Monophysitism spread through Asia Minor into Africa and Ethiopia. In different forms it survives today in the Syrian Orthodox church, the Armenian church, the Coptic church of Egypt and Ethiopian Orthodoxy.

So what do we know about dinosaur extinction, and how do we know it?
Scientific evidence and observation are the building blocks of hypotheses. Initially, the same evidence and observations may support different hypotheses. As more evidence becomes available, some hypotheses are substantiated, others are disproved, and new ones are formed.
A dinosaur extinction hypothesis is a testable statement describing factors that may have contributed to the dinosaurs’ demise and how long the process may have taken. Evidence, observation, and experimentation can serve to support or disprove a hypothesis. Regardless of its ultimate acceptance or rejection, though, a valid hypothesis provides direction for future scientific inquiry.

The Satan Delusion
Even when I was a devout believer, the notion of the devil bothered me.What possible purpose does he serve other than to scare children? While it makes sense (to a religious mind, at least) that in the struggle of good vs. evil each side should have an anthropomorphic manifestation, it really doesn’t seem as though Satan was given much of a job. I suppose that hell might be set up in such a way as to require management, but even then, if he’s really working for himself and not for God, why would he punish those who get sent to live with him in hell?Wouldn’t he then be doing the will of God?Whose side is Satan on, anyway?If Satan really wants to screw with God and his plan, making hell more fun than heaven would be the ultimate undermining.If heaven is being forced to worship God all day every day for eternity, and hell is an endless party, I’d call Satan the winner.
Now, I think that many Christians and other people of faith actually have less stereotypical, caricatured ideas about what heaven and hell are.Mormons, for example, have a more nuanced concept of what goes on in heaven (progression to godhood, creation of one’s own worlds and dominions) and hell (it’s not bad because Satan is poking you in the ass with his pitchfork, it’s bad because you realize that you’ll never be able to become a god and create worlds and have a million wives).
Still, what is Satan’s role in all this?It used to be that he possessed people, but then we learned about germ theory and mental illness.He still had his job of tempting people to have sex and assault their enemies, but then we learned about evolution and natural selection.So what does Lucifer actually do?Does he have any responsibility?Does anyone actually think that anti-social urges come from Satan, or is this one of the many ideas that rides the coattails of God straight into the logic-proof compartment of the mind?
It seems to me that as vacuous as the arguments for God are, defending the existence of Satan is even more difficult, and, importantly, the nonexistence of the devil is just as devastating to Christian doctrine as is the nonexistence of God.
SUFFERING - SiTU
The
police found the murder victim in the deserted wharehouse. His
upper-torso was hanging in chains from the ceiling, the rest was
laying on the floor in a meditation-like pose. Another victim of a
gang-war. Cut perfectly in half by a chainsaw, while he was still
alive after being tortured by electrical shocks. What a way to go at
30. The doctor says, that the dead man, would get into shock almost
immediately and bleed out in seconds. What a relief. Did this
Hispanic gangmember suffer? Why was he tortured and literally
slaughtered. Because of the “Code”, the total devotion to the
“family”, which he broke, by falling in love with an undercover
cop. He warned her, that her true identity was reveiled, and that she
had to run. Which the attractive police-woman did. What reasons would
he have, to choose a certain death? He knew, what was coming to him.
Probably punished traitors himself. Is this an example of true love?
At least it is over-the-top television (CSI).
The
Mongols, a medieval gang-collective on horse-back, that even
threatened Europe at a time, had a special treatment for traitors. It
was called “The Slow Death”. The convicted Mongol was tied to the
centre pole of a nomad tent. Every morning a small piece of him would
be cut of: a finger, a toe or an ear. Special torture-masters turned
it into an art: keeping the traitor alive, as long as possible. Did
these fellow human beings suffer?
I
once visited Auschwitz. A perfect place when you study “suffering”.
I was most impressed, not by the massive scale of suffering, but by
the fact that representatives of human kind (the Nazi's), created a
hell, within this place of horror. I don't mean the ovens or the
gass-chamber, but I mean the prison of this death-camp. Every
camp-prisoner had a specific number (tatoo), code and color: Jews,
homo-sexuals, gypsies and political prisoners. IBM's
“proto-computers” made the selection and classification easy.
There was one group of prisoners, who were not numbered and who were
wearing the color of death. The guards of the camps could do with
them, whatever they choosed: humilation, beatings and the chance to
be shot at the spot. In the end, the ended up in the prison of
Auschwitz. A collection of dark cells. Here they got a special
treatment of torture, beatings, medical experiments and amputations.
In the end they ended up against the wall, un the prison-yard to be
shot. The bullit impacts are still to be seen.
Did
they suffer?
Jesus
was heavenly beaten and tortured, before he was forced to carry his
cross to the place of execution. Here was nailed to the cross,
together with two other convicts, where he died, before the end of
the day. All in all Jesus' suffering lasted 24 hours, at the most.
Christians believe, that in this day, Christ washed away, all our
sins. But because of miscommunication and misconduct we move away
from “the Code” and we are doomed to suffer in this life and
probably in the next (heaven or hell and/or endless reincarnation).
I
think, we have suffered enough and, by the way, there are millions of
people, who don't suffer at all, so they think, or maybe because of
lack of media exposure and invitations and in the meanwhile this
Elite earns millions of dollars a week.
Jesus
and all the other victims of mankind seem to illustrate that homo
sapiens. is the only mammal that kills, tortures and eats its own
species. It also commits genocide and mass-murder (till this very
moment).
Let's
make an end to this lie and doctrine, simply by relieving the
suffering of your fellow-men. You have 7 billion relatives to choose
from. Start today. Then the concept of suffering will slowly fade
away and did Jesus' and all the others; man, woman and child, not die
in vain.
If ancient aliens visited Earth, what was their legacy, and did they leave behind clues that exist in plain sight such as sophisticated aircraft, complex electrical grids, and intricate construction machinery? Indian Sanskrit texts, dating back to 6000 B.C., describe in varying but vivid detail flying machines called Vimanas. Megalithic stone structures in Egypt reveal evidence of precision saw work. You all know the story of Archimedes, the famous Greek mathematician. After taking a bath, he suddenly got out and ran through the streets of Syracuse, shouting: “I found it, I found it!”
What did he find out? When he lowered himself in the bath, he suddenly realized, that the water rose, according to him slowly descending. This was not something at random, like swimming in a river. But it could me measured and this would happen according to a natural law. A low later named after him, which says, that the water level rises according to the volume, that is put in.
But why was Archimedes so ecstatic? He had found the solution to a major controversy in this harbortown in Southern-Italy. Syracuse was Greek and ruled by a couple of powerful families, who appointed a so-called “dictator”. There was a problem at his court. The Dictator had ordered a golden vessel for one of the temples in Syracuse. It was ordered from a famous goldsmith. When the vessel arrived, the dictator became suspicious. He suspected the goldsmith of cheating. Silver was less valuable and he thought that the golden vessel was largely of silver. But how to prove this.
Well, this is where Archimedes got in. Gold was heavier, than silver; so to reach the agreed weight, the volume would increase. So proving that the artist had stolen some gold. The Dictator's intuition proved right, the vessel contained silver. The story does not tell, what happened to the gold-smith. Archimedes was a practical man. His theoretical insights made it possible to develop all kinds of weapons. Syracuse was besieged by the Romans, but the Roman fleet could not approach the city walls. Under the supervision of this genius, in this respect surpassing Leonardo da Vinci., large mirrors were build, that set the sails on fire. Local historians describe cranes, that lifted the enemy ships out of the water.Some say he invented “Greek fire”, a chemical substance, that even burned on water.
But Romans never give up and in the end, Syracuse fell and the legionnaires looted the town. Archimedes was killed during this raid. A young soldier stabbed him. Because he did not want to be disturbed during his calculations.
Just a few notes of Archimedes survived, so it was a sensation, that a complete book surfaced. In a monastery, the monks ran out of parchment. They scraped off an old text (the one of the Greek mathematician) and turned it into a prayer book. Recently pecial X-ray-techniques made the original text visible. Once again his genius had endured time.
Another genius in the “Greek-timeframe” was Heron of Alexandria. He invented a steam engine. He used this power to open and close temple-doors, to move statues and to even make the Gods fly. It is, that he didnot put wheels under it. A railway from Alexandria to Jerusalem would be possible.
In the beginning of the 20th century another “Eureka-moment” took place. A diver near the small island of Antikythera was searching for sponges, when he suddenly surface. He cried out that “the sea-floor is covered with corpses!” The sponge divers had found the wreck of a Roman ship, which sank about 200 AD. The vessel transported stone, marble and bronze statuettes. Looted in Greece and on their way to Rome, to be added to its glory. Fortunately, the expedition went wrong. Apart from the statues, the divers found a block of coral-stone, with strange metallic pieces in side. The stone was kept in the cellars of the museum in Athens for a long time. This artifact was X-rayed in the last century and it became an overnight sensation. Inside the stone a metallic clock like object was found. Later it proofed to be an astronomical device of great ingenuity. Still the question remains: did the Greeks posses the brains and the technology to these seafaring tools and could also be used for calculating the next Olympics. Where there more of them or was this an exception? Was it a legacy of Archimedes or his students. If this was “ common technology ”, we need a completely different look on the seafaring and trading of the Greek.

- The Tzadikim Nistarim (Hebrew: צַ×ִ×קִ×× × ִ×”×Ŗָּ×Ø××, hidden righteous ones) or Lamed Vav Tzadikim (Hebrew: ×"× ×¦ַ×ִ×קִ××, 36 righteous ones), often abbreviated to Lamed Vav(niks)[a], refers to 36 Righteous people, a notion rooted within the more mystical dimensions of Judaism. The singular form is Tzadik Nistar (Hebrew: צַ×ִ×ק × ִ×”×Ŗָ×Ø). The source is the Talmud itself, explained as follows:
As a mystical concept, the number 36 is even more intriguing. It is said that at all times there are 36 special people in the world, and that were it not for them, all of them, if even one of them was missing, the world would come to an end. The two Hebrew letters for 36 are the lamed, which is 30, and the vav, which is 6. Therefore, these 36 are referred to as the Lamed-Vav Tzadikim. This widely held belief, this most unusual Jewish concept is based on a Talmudic statement to the effect that in every generation 36 righteous "greet the Shechinah," the Divine Presence (Tractate Sanhedrin 97b; Tractate Sukkah 45b).[8]
The Lamed-Vav Tzaddikim are also called the Nistarim ("concealed ones"). In our folk tales, they emerge from their self-imposed concealment and, by the mystic powers, which they possess, they succeed in averting the threatened disasters of a people persecuted by the enemies that surround them. They return to their anonymity as soon as their task is accomplished, 'concealing' themselves once again in a Jewish community wherein they are relatively unknown. The lamed-vavniks, scattered as they are throughout the Diaspora, have no acquaintance with one another. On very rare occasions, one of them is 'discovered' by accident, in which case the secret of their identity must not be disclosed. The lamed-vavniks do not themselves know that they are ones of the 36. In fact, tradition has it that should a person claim to be one of the 36, that is proof positive that they are certainly not one. Since the 36 are each exemplars of anavah, ("humility"), having such a virtue would preclude against one’s self-proclamation of being among the special righteous. The 36 are simply too humble to believe that they are one of the 36.[8]
It is also said that one of these 36 could potentially be the Jewish Messiah if the world is ready for them to reveal themselves. Otherwise, they live and die as an ordinary person. Whether the persons knows they are the potential Messiah is debated.
Genesis: Final Point
From time to time a sea current brings death to the Galapagos Islands. El Nino, a meteorological phenomenon which is becoming notorious all over the world, heats up the waters on the Pacific coast and causes terrible death and destruction to animal species. But Galapagos is not dying. The arrival of El Nino is just a part of the ancient cycle of death and rebirth, a reminder of its genesis and a repetition on an infinitely smaller scale of how life colonized these islands and transformed them into an Earthly paradise.
