FOLLOWING THE MONKEY-PATH

the alien wars

We travel through a cosmic shooting-gallery. Earth is constantly under threat. Satellites and space-telescopes are scanning the space around us, for possible threatening meteorites, comets or meteorshowers. Impact on Earth of an asteroid causes local devastation, not worldwide. Why, because asteroids, like so many space-objects, are hollow, not massive rock.

In recent years space-debris is becoming a problem. The rockets, satellites, spy-platforms and space-systems run out of energy and start deteriorating. Slowly they fall towards their point of origin. Earth.

American Army-personell function as retrieval-units on a global scale. First visible active at Roswell (1947), from then on everywhere (Aztec, Kecksburg, Mexico, even Russia).

Why is retrieval so important, every major army in the world has units for this purpose. Shortly after World War 2, Nazi-technology was confiscated, scientists and technicians (all Nazi-Party members, some SS) were arrested and deported.

Some to Russia, some to Britain, but most went to the United States. This was project Paperclip. The more than 1000 Germans were put to work on several (secret) projects. They got the possibility to perfect the rockets, cruise-missiles, weapons and technology, they had no time to finish, because of the deffeat of Nazi-Germany.

Oberth and von Braun made it possible to go to the Moon, oh so they say.

Never mind. We live in a cosmic shooting-gallery. But it is not an asteroid or a meteor I am worried about, it is the shooting-gallery around me. Enough ammunition so to see. Everybody keeps on emptying their machine-guns at stones and debris, firing your weapon in the sky is for fun and out of excitement.

The same random-violence has become a global phenomenon.

The chance of running into trouble has been much lower in the past. But higher as well. Just remember World War 1 and 2.

Number 3 is knocking at the door. Don't open.

Be Peace.
