Jezus werd in de Jordaan gedoopt. Op dat moment verscheen hem de Heilige Geest en begonnen de drie jaren van zijn regentschap op aarde, totdat de Kruisdood op Golgotha hier een einde aan maakte. De doop werd verricht door Johannes, een zwervende preker en een zonderling, die in de woestijn leefde. Hij waarschuwde voor de ondergang van de Joden, omdat ze zich van de oude wetten, rituelen en gebruiken hadden afgewend. De toorn van God zou losbarsten. Deze voorspelling kwam uit toen zo'n 40 jaar later Jeruzalem door de Romeinen werd ingenomen, geplunderd en de Tempel, het belangrijkste Joodse heiligdom, in brand werd gestoken. Johannes, bijgenaamd de Doper, maakte zich, net als Jezus niet geliefd bij de autoriteiten. De Romeinse regent Herodes Antipas nam hem gevangen en Johannes werd daarna in de kerkers van Herodes' paleis opgesloten. Het was niet de bedoeling, dat hij daar voorlopig uit zou komen. Tijdens een banket met vrienden beloofde Herodes aan Salome, zijn dochter, haar elke wens te vervullen. Opgestookt door haar jaloerse moeder vroeg Salome om het hoofd van Johannes de Doper. Hetgeen geschiedde. Maar wat gebeurde er met Salome? Niet lang daarna leed Jeruzalem onder een zeer koude winter. Begeleid door bedienden en soldaten reisde Salome terug naar huis. Ze moest hiervoor de Jordaan oversteken. De geschiedenis vermeldt niet of het nu volgende drama zich op de plek afspeelde waar Johannes Jezus had gedoopt. In ieder geval, tijdens het oversteken van de Jordaan viel Salome in de rivier. Haar zware kleding trok haar naar beneden. Maar voordat zij in de diepte verdween, bevroor het water zo snel, dat de drenkeling werd onthoofd.

Harappa RuinsThe ruins of the ancient cities of Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa are extremely radioactive. Practically nothing is known of their histories, except that both were destroyed suddenly. In Mohenjo-Daro, in an epicentre 150 feet wide, everything was crystallised, fused or melted; 180 feet from the center the bricks are melted on one side, indicating a blast.

Excavations down to the street level revealed 44 scattered skeletons, as if doom had come so suddenly they could not get to their houses. All the skeletons were flattened to the ground. A father, mother and child were found flattened in the street, face down and still holding hands.

Von Manstein is said to have debated the coming strategy in 1943 with Adolf Hitler. He preferred a year of stabilization, to regroup and let the troops regain their strength and will to fight.

Hitler wanted to keep the initiative, which led to the battle at Kursk. In between Nazi-forces were succesfull in regaining Charkov.
